Waiting On Wednesday (6)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking The Spine in which an upcoming, eagerly anticipated release is highlighted on the blog. This week Possession by Elana Johnson, coming out June 7, 2011 from Simon and Schuster:
Description: Vi knows the Rule: Girls don't walk with boys, and they never even thinkabout kissing them. But no one makes Vi want to break the Rules more than Zenn...and since the Thinkers have chosen him as Vi's future match, how much trouble can one kiss cause? The Thinkers may have brainwashed the rest of the population, but Vi is determined to think for herself.
But the Thinkers are unusually persuasive, and they're set on convincing Vi to become one of them...starting by brainwashing Zenn. Vi can't leave Zenn in the Thinkers' hands, but she's wary of joining the rebellion, especially since that means teaming up with Jag. Jag is egotistical, charismatic, and dangerous--everything Zenn's not. Vi can't quite trust Jag and can't quite resist him, but she also can't give up on Zenn. 
This is a game of control or be controlled. And Vi has no choice but to play.

Another Waiting On Wednesday, another dystopian. And if you've read the description, this one sounds very familiar. I would like to read Possession because I'm interested to see how it will compare to Matched and Delirium. I'm interested to find out if it can sufficiently set itself apart from those reads and bring something unique to the table, beyond this familiar sounding description.

    This one does sound very familiar. Even the cover reminds me a lot of Matched.

    Oh great pick Aylee! I'm dying to read this one as well and I adore that cover. Even if does sound familiar, I still can't wait to read it:)

    I'm so in dystopian right now! But drats it doesn't come out for months. It would be interesting to compare it to the others as you mentioned.

    I've never heard of this book till now. Sounds intriguing. I should try reading dystopian books soon. :D

    There are so many books out now about how society or people in the society control them etc. I still love all the books as long as they have their own unique characters and the storyline is different. Great pick =)

    This one looks good - I've seen the cover around, but I haven't read the blurb until today. There seem to be a few books like this coming out next year and I'm hoping this one is good.

    I agree that it seems familiar. I wonder if this is the new trend in dystopian fiction. Still, it's on my TBR list and I'm looking forward to reading it.

    The cover is very stark but beautiful.
    I was thinking it sounded a bit like Matched when I was reading the summary :P

    The book cover of dystopian novels these days are cute, like Matched. I thought they are contemporary novels at first when I saw their covers. Hehe.
