Stacking the Shelves (7) and Vlog (4)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews to showcase any books that I have received for review, bought, borrowed, or won to read.

This week, I made my fourth vlog, despite being almost thwarted by an annoyingly incessant car alarm. But the show must go on, as they say:

For Review:
Dust Lands: Rebel Heart by Moira Young (Thanks to Big Honcho Media!)
Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor (Thanks to Hachette Book Group Canada!)
Splintered by A.G. Howard (Thanks to Abrams!)
Elemental by Antony John (Thanks to Penguin!)
The Cadet of Tildor by Alex Lidell (Thanks to Penguin!)

Won:
The Mad Scientist's Daughter by Cassandra Rose Clarke (Thanks to Paranormal Indulgence and Strange Chemistry!)

Bought:
The Assassin's Curse by Cassandra Rose Clarke
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
Pretties by Scott Westerfeld
Specials by Scott Westerfeld

  1. EEP! I can't wait to read Rebel Heart! I loved BRR. I've been avoiding reviews so I'm not put off, though. Elemental was quite good!

    Enjoy your books :D

  2. You got some great books there! I mean: SPLINTERED. I need that book in my life. I won't feel complete without it :p haha. The assassin's curse is also a book I want to read :) You have a nice voice.

    Happy reading!

  3. Rebel Heart, Days of B&Sl, Elemental, Splintered, Cadet... okay, I'm looking forward to all of them. I recently got a copy of Days of B&Sl, so excited to read it!

Also, you just sold A Monster Calls for me. I had been contemplating getting a copy, but oh, just the quality of the book itself = must have. I have heard nothing but the best about it so I guess you can't go wrong there.

    Happy reading!

  5. I just love that cover for Rebel Heart, it looks like the poster for an awesome movie.

I still need to check out the Assassins curse, I've been so close to buying it a bunch of times but I can't seem to commit :/

Also, I don't even know for how long has the Uglies trilogy been on my TBR list. I just never get around reading them. LOL I actually started Uglies a couple of times but never made it far into it.

    Anyway, enjoy your books!! :D

Almost every single book you've gotten is on my wishlist - except Days of Blood & Starlight which I just started a few days ago :D But I'm very much wishing for Elemental, The Cadet of Tildor, Splintered & The Assassin's Curse!! I still need to read Blood Red Road as well! Thanks for sharing Aylee & enjoy all your goodies ♥

  12. Lucky you! So many great books. I tried for Splintered early on but got the door shut from NG. I'm so excited for you, can't wait to read your review. I'm happy you have Book #2 in the Dust Lands series because I know how you adored Blood Red Road. Nice purchases too, btw. I'm enjoying your vlogs. You remind me of a young coworker friend of mine.

  14. I haven't read Blood Read Road but I do have it on my shelf and plan to read it in the near future. I'm also getting a copy of Daughter of Smoke and Bone super soon so I'll be able to finally jump on the bandwagon! I've heard amazing things about A Monster Calls and can't wait to read it. I saw it last time when I was in a bookstore and the illustrations are stunning. I'm really regretting not having picked up a copy. Though I've yet to read anything by Patrick Ness, I've only heard praise about him and his books. I'm also looking forward to starting the Uglies series but when I'll get round to it is hard to say..

Great book haul, I hope you enjoy all your books! Happy reading!

  18. You are way more comfortable in front of the camera now. You don't seem awkward at all. I am dying to read Days of Blood and Starlight. I'm like 10th in line at the library for it so I hope I get it soon. I haven't read anything by Cassandra Rose Clarke but I might look into The Assassin's Curse since you loved it so much.

    Happy Reading.

  19. "hopefully he gets that under control" LOL That would be so annoying! I love the open window behind you! I really need to read the Moira Young books! I really hope I have better luck with Starlight than I did with Smoke & Bone. I can't wait for Splintered either, hopefully it gets the retelling right, unlike Alice in Zombieland ugh. Oooh yay for winning books by authors that you love. A Monster Calls is so amazing, I remember reading that book and just loving every single word. And it's such a GORGEOUS book, I hope you love it! LOL I recently bought the Scott Westerfeld series too, haven't read any of them yet either! Great vlog chick, love seeing you!

  20. Yay for Scott Westerfeld!! I need to read the Pretties series (or Uglies?) ... it looks great! I also had Rebel Heart but have read so many mixed reviews ... I'm donating it to my library and may read it one day.

I can't wait to dig into Days of Blood & Starlight!! You make me so excited to read it!

Boo on the car alarm! That would be crazy annoying!

    Have a good week, Aylee!

  21. Ooooo you got some great books this week Aylee! I'm really excited for Splintered - it has such a gorgeous cover, I'm really hoping the story lives up to it! I'm absolutely dying to finally get time to read Days of Blood and Starlight, I just adored Daughter of Smoke and Bone:) Enjoy all those!

  22. Wonderful, wonderful book haul! I can't wait for you to post your reviews for The Mad Scientist's Daughter and The Cadet of Tildor.

I'm kind of wary about the first one, since robots really aren't my thing, but I looooved The Pirate's Curse so much that I want to read TMSD based on the strength of that alone (and I think maybe a part of my brain is hoping Ananna somehow appears doing piratey things).

I'm also curious to see what you think of the Uglies books. I read the first one and about half of the second. I have a love-dislike relationship with his books. I LOVED Peeps (highly recommend it to you if you haven't read it already. I think you'd like it), but I haven't liked any of his other books that I've tried (namely, the Uglies and Midnighters series).
