Oi! Even though I've only been gone for two weeks and I've been doing my best to keep up with other people's posts in my absence, I still feel so out of the loop in the book blogging community! I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone.
Finals went okay... I'm just relieved they're over with. My trip to B.C. to visit my cousin where she works in Whistler was awesome. Vancouver was trendy and wet and gorgeous just as it always is. I got to see the Olympic Cauldron! Very cool. This was my first trip to Whistler. It was a wonderful, little tourist-y town. It snowed pretty much the entire time I was there. I have never seen so much snow in my life! It is simply too cold and too dry to get that amount of precipitation here in Alberta.
But enough about my trip. Let's talk about my first giveaway! (As if you haven't already scrolled through to the important bits already, lol)
For my first giveaway, I want to keep it very simple: just leave a comment and no extra entries are available.
I am giving away 13 To Life by Shannon Delany (Goodreads/My Review) and Wildwing by Emily Whitman (Goodreads/My Review). I liked both of these books but I just can't see myself ever rereading them so I'm giving them away instead. I won both of these books in contests so I thought it would be fitting if I passed both of them on in my own contest.
Rules:
1. Leave a comment telling me how you spent your Christmas/Holidays.
2. I'm not going to lie, I would really love it if this prize went to someone who followed me. That said, for this giveaway, you do not need to be a follower to enter nor will you receive any extra entries for following.
3. Is it just me, or are a lot of my followers from the UK? Maybe it just seems that way. At any rate, I'm going to make this giveaway INTERNATIONAL because I don't want to exclude anybody.
4. This giveaway will end 2 weeks from today on January 9, 2011 at midnight EST.
5. The winner will be announced on the blog and will have 48 hours to send me an email. So if you choose not to follow, please make sure you have some other way of finding out if you win.
Notes:
1. As I indicated earlier, these books are not new; I have read them already. I'm pretty anal about keeping my books in very good shape though, I promise.
2. If for whatever reason the person who wins only wants one of the two books, I will pick a second winner to receive the other book.

Glad you had a good trip. I spent my Christmas on my feet preparing, serving and clearing away a feast for 8 of my nearest and dearest. I must admit that I spent the rest of it totally shattered, but everyone had a great time and the food was fab. That made me happy :)
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway. I am a UK follower :)))
Thanks for leavin a comment on my site.
ReplyDeleteWhat did I do for the holidays well I slept til about 1pm (my phone rang)then to my grandparents house at 5 and we ate dinner, santa came to vivist (for the younger kids), then played the white elephant gift thing (not a big fan of that) then I went over in a corner and finished a book I was reading. Very exciting Christmas I know. :)
Lovely pictures, the snow looks so pretty!
ReplyDeleteGlad your back and had a great two weeks.
Thank you so much for the giveaway and making it international! =)
Well for Christmas l didn't do anything as l sadly had a sickness bug! =( Hoping to have another Christmas when l am better.
P.S sorry forgot to include what l did for the holidays so did a new post =)
I love the pictures! I wish the snow here looked like that.. now it's gone all slushy and horrible.
ReplyDeleteI spent Christmas with my dad and his girlfriend's family. It was really great! We had a huge meal, and played some games of charades - which my team won! - and played a dancing game on the Xbox. Preparing the food was fun, although I put my hand through the beautiful trifle when my step-sister threw it up in the air and I tried to catch it :/ Haha :D
I hope you had a great day yesterday :) And thanks for the giveaway! Good luck everyone :)
Amber
Well, unfortunately, this holiday has mostly been spent doing assignments for uni. Other than that, hanging out with ze family:D
ReplyDeleteOoh, I am one of your uk followers lol, thought you should know.

Yay, you're back! Nice pictures. I'm hoping we get a lot of snow like that. It's snowing pretty hard right now, but it's supposed to turn into a blizzard tonight!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway :)
Christmas Eve I spent with my fiance gorging myself on really good food. Then Christmas day I finally got to see Harry Potter!! How amazing was that movie?! Aaah, I'm still on a Potter high :) I just want to go right back to the theater and watch it again.

Thanks for the giveaway! It looks like it was very cold (but gorgeous) in Canada!
ReplyDeleteI didn't do much for the holidays, just spent time with my family. We watched Inception and the Doctor Who Christmas special. Haha. We're so boring!
BC and snow...pfft. Try Manitoba and snow. Six months out of the year. It hurts. Anywho this Christmas was pretty mild. My mom, my little sister and little brother went to my aunts where the rest of the family was. My sister just had a baby four weeks ago so it was a lot of fun to show him off to the rest of my family. It was good Christmas.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to see you back Aylee, and thanks for the giveaway. I just went to someone's house and then came home and read a little bit before going to bed early.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway! I found it through the Uk giveaways site.
ReplyDeleteI spet Christmas day with my family- going to church, opening presents and eating lots of yummy food. I'm going to spend the rest of my holidays reading my new books :)
Thanks for the giveaway ~
ReplyDeleteI didn't celebrate christmas so basically it all just the same for me. For new year my friends will sleepover at my place, most probably cooking and drinking till drunk. Not a good way to start new year, I'm afraid!

I follow your blog. I spent it at home, but on 1st January, we will have a party at home with my boyfriend and our common friends, I hope :D

ReplyDeleteEdit: I forgot to add my email!! XD
logisch.he(at)gmail(dot)com
I didn't know that you were a fellow Canadian! Slightly jealous of your adventures to Vancouver, I was stuck over in Ontario for the holidays (we were supposed to go on a family vacation to Tennessee, but then we got hit with a butt load of snow and instead stayed at home, I hid and read, while the majority of my family did whatever... ;) )...

Great contest thanks, I spent my Christmas with my four boys and my hubby. We had a great Christmas except it froze very heavy here and the water froze. We had no shower!! We had water coming into the kitchen but none going down the house. Not pleasant.

ReplyDeleteI spent my Christmas the way we spend it every year, at my grandmother's house - very traditional! But as soon as that was over, it was back to revision for my January exams :( Could do with some lovely books to cheer me up :)
Thanks for the giveaway! I spent my Christmas with my family sans my sister and mother. They're both in Canada right now.

Welcome back! And thanks for the giveaway. :)
ReplyDeleteLet's see, I spent a few days up in the mountains to go snowboarding, endured 4 days of non-stop rain once we got back, entertained family from out of state (Sis-in-law and her husband were here for a week), and then my hubby and I spent Christmas with friends (I ate way too much). :) It's been fun!
bookloversdiary@yahoo.com
Eke! Forgot to add for Christmas, I did the usual, play white elephant with my family and eat too much food. It was a lazy but very happy day. :D
ReplyDeleteI came across your site by following one of your posts on Waiting On Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteI'm a recovering Potter addict too. Sadly I have not found anything as good as the Harry Potter series yet though I liked The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins & the Leviathan series by Scott Westerfeld.
Thanks for making this giveaway international. I'd love to read Wildwing. It seems like fun.
I didn't do much at Christmas time. My brother came back from college after about 2 months and we had a quiet day at home. We went out for dinner with a cousin on Boxing Day though.
I spent Christmas Eve watching Love Actually with my partner and sharing lollies, then on Christmas Day my parents came over and we had lunch together :)
ReplyDeleteKate1485 at hotmail.com
My family actually just stayed home and relaxed this Christmas. My Dad and Grandma came and stayed and we all cooked and baked together and had a nice meal and of course pie! Presents were awesome...the older you get the more expensive the gifts are right? Because I know all I ask for are books and electronics. It was really fun though and it was nice to just take it easy this year!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway! This is awesome!
I rested for Christmas. I had carpel tunnel surgery on the 23rd. I'm catching up on reading books on my kindle! :-)
ReplyDeleteke7yca at gmail dot com
I've been wanting to read BOTH of these books so this is an awesome giveaway! Thank you! I spent my holidays at home, hanging out with my brother who's visiting. I ate more food than a single human being should, and got tons of amazing books for Christmas. A perfect holiday.
ReplyDeletebookwormoakesATyahooDOTcom

ReplyDeleteOn Christmas eve I was working 11:00am to 6:00pm, then had supper at my brother-in-law's parents' house haha. We had a huge supper! Filled with Italian and Portuguese food yum! On Christmas day, I spent the day at my boyfriends house. We unwraped gifts and we ate Greek food haha! And finally, on boxing day, I worked all day and then come home to have more presents and more food woohoo! LOL! Of course, I managed to add reading time for myself! This Christmas was amazing!

Very enjoyable with all the people and being able to catch up on all the news.
All the best for 2011.

Haha, I've never read 13, but Wildwing was pretty good! My holiday was spent fighting with my dad on how to hook up the new Wii... my mother and sister laughed from the couch, and my tech-savvy friend was having a riot via webcam.
