2011 Debut Author Challenge

So, I've decided to take part in the 2011 Debut Author Challenge hosted by Kristi of The Story Siren! I had my doubts initially because I have so many books already on my TBR from before 2011 that I want to get to. But I've decided that I'm just going to do it. Or try to do it anyway.

I tried to spread out my choices for the entire year but inevitably, I ended up with a cluster of books that will be released at the beginning of 2011. This is probably because these are the ones that are being reviewed already and being hyped about. I'm sure come the second half of the year, they'll be more debut author books that I want to read.

As you can see, most of them are dystopians. Fancy that. Looks like I'm not ready to let go of my dystopian obsession just quite yet. But there are also some angel books and post-apocalyptics thrown in there for good measure. Did any or all of these books make your list?

  1. Oh super cool. I've never entered a challenge before, been kickin' around the idea of doing this one though. Glad to see so many people stepping up to the plate.

  3. @Gina: The worst that could happen is that you don't complete it. Not the worst thing in the world! That's what I keep telling myself :)
@Melissa: I'm especially interested by the premise of Water Wars. In fact, it doesn't really sound too far off real life as it is now... kind of freaky.

  4. I'm looking forward to most of those. I'm looking forward to reading all of these reviews. I hadn't heard of The Dark Inside until I saw you marked it on Goodreads. Thanks!

  5. I may be the most excited for The Dark Inside out of all of these books! It's described as like The Road for teens!

  7. Yeah, I'm sure others will turn up that I don't have on the list that I'll really want to read.

  8. Bumped sounds really good. It's weird. I don't like dystopian novels (I don't like how hopeless they tend to be) but they are all I want to read these days so... Hmmm. I have a few of the same books on my list. I am pretty excited to get reading. Good luck with the challenge.

  9. Yes, well they seem to be very "in" at the moment. Their popularity is definitely on the rise so there's really no escaping them in YA at the moment.

  10. Yeah Aylee! You've got some great books on there and we share almost all of them, I look forward to comparing notes with you! I tried to spread mine out as well, but like you ended up with a bunch clustered at the beginning of the year. Oh well, we'll start 2011 out with a reading bang!

PS. I don't know if you spelled "cute" right in Japanese, but I understood what you were trying to say :-)

  14. I am going to have to stop by The Story Siren soon and check out this challenge! I would love to participate because sometimes I need a little help in finding new books to read. Dystopian is totally up my alley, so I am looking forward to some of these!
