Stacking The Shelves: Holiday Edition

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews to showcase books that I have received for review, bought, borrowed, been gifted, or won to read.

I haven't participated in Stacking The Shelves in years, but I thought I would join in this week to share my great Holiday Haul because I'm very excited about all the books I received:

Vicious by V.E. Schwab (x2) - one copy from Sara of Just Another Story and one copy from Micheline of Lunar Rainbows
This is clearly a case of Great Minds Think Alike and These Ladies Know Me So Well because I received two copies of this book and I already know I'm going to LOVE it. At the moment, I'm feeling no need to get rid of one of these copies because I like both covers and want to keep both... Maybe I'll switch between the two when reading :p

Of Metal and Wishes by Sarah Fine - from Zahida of Musings of a YA Reader
Zahida surprised me with this book during our last meet-up before I left Toronto. It's one she loved so I'm stoked about it! I'm going to miss our regular catch-ups and book signing events together!

The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland In A Ship Of Her Own Making by Catherynne M. Valente - from Micheline of Lunar Rainbows
Yessss!! I've been wanting to read this one for YEARS and now I finally see it happening this year!

Eeny Meeny by M. J. Arlidge - from Lauren of Shooting Stars Mag
Lauren gifted me with this book with the knowledge that I love the Cormoran Strike books and this one is in the same vein as those - so that's definitely exciting! Something to tide me over until the next Cormoran Strike book is released!

Confess by Colleen Hoover - from Ambur of Burning Impossibly Bright
I remember mentioning to Ambur that I've never read anything by Colleen Hoover and I wouldn't know which book of hers to start with... and she surprised me with this one! I'm excited because Ambur is a big fan of hers and I def trust her opinion.

Roald Dahl Book Set - from husband
Roald Dahl was my J. K. Rowling before I read HP, but it's been many years since I've read any of my old childhood favourites. And now I can!!

Wolf By Wolf by Ryan Grandin - from husband
I had this one for review last year, but unfortunately I was so busy that the eARC period ran out before I could get to it. The premise has intrigued me since I first heard of it.

The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman - from Penguin Canada via Goodreads Giveaway
I haven't really heard anything about this one yet, but I'm looking forward to finding out what it's about!

Harry Potter Colouring Book and Enchanted Forest Colouring Book - from husband
I will now be joining the recent adult colouring book craze with these two beauties - I hope I can stay within the lines!

How lucky am I to have so many people in my life who know my reading tastes so well and are so generous?! So lucky.

  1. I haven't done a Stacking the Shelves post in forever either, Eilidh, but this is definitely a perfect reason to do one!! You got some seriously amazing books!!! I just finished rereading A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC by Victoria Schwab (this time as an audio!!) and it made me think that I really need to go back and read her other books, and I've also heard AMAZING things about VICIOUS! And I totally agree with you, you should keep both! They're gorgeous! :D

I hope you LOVE CONFESS, it's one of my favourite Colleen Hoover books (I seem to say that about most of them though!!! haha)!

I'm loving all of the books you got though, and I can't wait to hear what you think of them all. :D And to see you progress with colouring...on Instagram perhaps? ;)

    1. Thanks, Ambur :) I'm excited to read more from Schwab because I always enjoy the experience! And I guess I may consider sharing colouring on Instagram... if I consider it good enough!

  2. I finished The Dark Days Club yesterday and I really loved it! It's a bit slow going, but that didn't really bother. :) Haha, an adult colouring book is on its way to me, so I'll be joining the craze soon too. xD

  3. Awwww I'm a little bummed that you ended up with two copies of Vicious - even though they're both quite pretty! I *almost* sent you Sabriel instead but I didn't know if you'd want to do audio on that on or not so I held of. IF you don't get to it by next Christmas, consider it one of your gifts LOL! I was hoping you'd be excited for Fairyland too so YAY :D I actually just read 2 very promising reviews for Dark Days Club by two close blogger friends so I hope it'll deliver for you too!

I also got the Harry Potter Colouring Book (and the Doctor Who one) so I'll be joining the ranks too! I actually haven't gotten around to my own StS post yet but I will set posts up in the coming weeks ;) Enjoy all your goodies my friend! xx

    1. Don't be too bummed - because I'm quite pleased with both!! And it seems like a mighty good sign that I'll love it if two of my favourites thought I would love it :D

  4. Hahaha- I think it's funny you got two copies of Vicious. What are the odds. I am pretty excited for you to read it. I also have a huge love for all things Roald Dahl- I've been meaning to reread The BFG for some time. Those colouring books look fun.

You got a great stash this Holiday season- enjoy.

  6. Great post - looks like you got some fantastic books over the holiday season! That's awesome. I really hope you like Eeny-Meeny. I told my sister she needs to read it too. lol That's awesome you got two copies of Vicious, but different covers. I really want to read that one too! I read Wolf by Wolf and really liked it. Such a cool premise, and I like that it feels like a full book even though there will be a sequel. Pretty sure it's just a duology though, so that's awesome. :)

Ooooh! Roald Dahl! I used to read him all the time as a kid. I really need to re-read some old favorites or even just read the ones I never got too when I was younger.

    1. Good to hear the about Wolf by Wolf :) And looking at the Roald Dahl box set, there are some there I haven't read either! Surprising because I thought I had, but really I guess it was just because my library didn't have them all.

  11. I loved Vicious! The characters are complex and the story unfolds in an unusual format. I also bought the Enchanted Forest Coloring book for myself (since I didn't get it for Christmas). I wind up staying up late trying to work on it, so I don't know if it is relaxing or not. I am a new follower via email. My blog is http://ponderingtheprose.blogpsot.com
