Help Support The Monstrumologist (and Giveaway)

Over the past month, I've had the immense pleasure of reading and experiencing the first two books in The Monstrumologist Series (see: my review of The Monstrumologist and my review of The Curse of the Wendigo). Over such a short period, this series has quickly become one of my favourites of all time. The Monstrumologist Series is, in a word, brilliant. In more than a word, it is thrillingly terrifying in plot and exquisitely rich in writing.

So it is to my dismay that I have learned that Simon and Schuster have decided to discontinue this series due to poor sales (the final book, The Isle of Blood, will be published September 13, 2011). This is so very, very sad to me, that a book series I love so much and feel like lots of people could love as well if they gave it a chance, is coming to a premature end.

So to show support for this brilliant series, it would be wonderful if I could convince even one person to send Simon and Schuster a note asking them to reverse their decision. Need some motivation beyond just my undying gratitude? How about a giveaway?

Stephanie Reads is holding a Support the Monstrumologist Giveaway in which you can win a complete set of Monstrumologist books, all signed and personalized by the author himself, Rick Yancey! The contest is international and ends August 25. All you have to do is send Simon and Schuster a pre-prepared note written by Stephanie to be considered for the win.

So please don't hesitate: click here to enter to win Stephanie Reads' Support the Monstrumologist Giveaway! Thanks so much for taking the time to read this!

  2. Aww this sucks!
I hate when they cancel series I love because of 'poor sales'.

It happened to me with the Bard Academy, so I know it sucks majorly!
I shall spread the word about the Monstrumologist!!

  3. Oh no! That's so disappointing, your reviews made me so curious about these books! Thanks for the post and the link Aylee:)

  4. Oh no! It's so disappointing when publishers cancel great series. That happened to me with the killer unicorn series (you should totally read that, btw). Your reviews have completely inspired me to pick up the books already.

  5. Aw, that's a bummer! I've heard nothing but good things about this series. Thanks for raising awareness! :)

  6. Stephanie: No problem! Happy to do it.

Alex: Oh really? That sucks about the Bard Academy series because I've great things about it from you! And thank you!

Jenny: It is, indeed! I was disappointed to hear about it even when I thought there was only ever going to be 3 books and didn't know more were planned!

Small: I didn't know that about the killer unicorn series! How sad. That is one series I really want to read (thanks to your recommendation!). I hope you enjoy them!

Lauren: I love these books so much, it's the least I could do!

  7. But, I still want to learn about that new take on vampirism.

Thanks to this post, I followed the links and sent an e-mail to SS. Hopefully with enough fan support, we can get them to reconsider.

    Thanks Aylee.

  8. Did you see the third book is available through August's Galley Grab newsletter? I wasn't sure if you already had it :)

  9. Missie: Heh, yeah I suppose you still can if you read The Curse of the Wendigo in which the vampire-like monster was featured. No, thank you!

T.B.: Thanks so very much, Tessa! I hope they change their minds too... I hope it's not too late.

Small: I'm not signed up for the Galley Grab Program. And I don't really have an interest to be, honestly. I have enough physical books to read already to be reading more off of a computer screen!

  10. Haha, I understand. It's not like you won't be able to get them just the same after the release date :)

  11. I have heard all about the ending of this fantastic series but I have yet to read it. I must remedy that!!

  12. Small: Yup, I'm definitely buying the third one!

Bailey: You should! You might find that it's not your thing, but I recommend everyone gives it a try.

  13. How disappointing. From your review of this book, it sounds like a great series. Seems like the type of thing that would sell well. I wonder why not.

  14. I'm not too surprised actually... I can see why it might not appeal to the average person, either because of the advanced writing or the intense gore (which are the two things that I loved most about it). Not everyone's cup of tea but I feel like it could be more if more people gave it a chance!

  15. I'm not surprised, but I have to say that I bought this series because of you, and I'm excited to review it soon :)

  17. I did write an email to S&S... but didn't know about the giveaway Stephanie's doing. It's a great idea-- if they receive enough emails, I'm sure something will come of it! Thanks for raising awareness about this. :)

  18. Your positive reviews of this series has piqued my curiosity about the series, Aylee. It sucks that they're cancelling it though. I'll follow the links and email S&S since Stephanie has made it really easy.

  19. Kat: I'm slightly cynical anything will come of this unless there's tons and tons of support but I can hope and it can't hurt to support the author!

Zahida: She did make it really easy, didn't she? I know it might not be your kind of read, but I thank you for showing support anyways. It means a lot!

  20. Hopefully they'll change their minds about this. I recently picked up the first book in this series. I have a feeling I'm going to like it so I should probably just pick up the rest of the books. :)
