The summer season started up in May at my museum and all of a sudden I was working extremely exhausting days for the rest of summer. These are the busy months at the museum wherein thousands of tourists visit every day from around the world and I was tasked with educating and entertaining them. As a self-described introverted couch potato, leading hikes into the badlands for hundreds of strangers to hunt for fossils took a lot out of me every day and led to me crashing in bed shortly after wolfing down my supper every night.

Mixed up in all of this, I apparently went insane and decided that among all my exhaustion it would be a good time to buy my first home?! Listen, I have no explanation besides that I fell head-over-heels-in-love with the perfect home that was the right price and I needed to have it.

Of course in all of this, blogging was the hobby that fell by the wayside. I am tentatively hoping to pick it back up now that things have quieted down a bit. I've missed you guys!
And one more thing:
THIS happened. And honestly, I'm still sort of working through my feelings on it. I'm not used to reading plays and I will admit I felt a bit detached at times reading a bare-bones script instead of the writing that I am used to. Ideally, I could see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child as it was meant to be experienced: on the stage. But until then I'm not sure I will be posting a review for it unless I can find a way to sort through my thoughts... Overall though, it was so great catching up with my favourites and seeing what they had been up to all these years. I'd love to know your thoughts on it!
Congrats on the new house, and I'm glad you are loving your job. I can see why it would be quite exhausting though! I hope you can get back into blogging a bit more. I've missed seeing what you are up too!! I read and really loved Cursed Child. I like reading plays though, so that format worked for me but I can see why it wouldn't for everyone. I also got to see the play soon after when I went to London and WOW! It really needs to be seen live. I'm so hoping they will decide to film it with the current cast because they are amazing and I'll keep seeing them as their characters now - especially people like Albus and Scorpius, who you've never really met before.

Oh yes, I do hope they film the London cast and release it for everyone!! Not everyone can afford to make the trip to London after all. I trust your opinion and I'm sure I would love the play seeing it live too. Thanks Lauren!
DeleteWhat a cute little house! We just bought our first home last year and it was SUCH a process (and still is in some ways)... so HUGE props to you!
ReplyDeleteOoh congrats to you! It's a lot of work, but it's satisfying work at least. And I assume the volume of work goes down eventually.
DeleteYour new job and new house sound amazing!! Even living in an apartment, setting up in a new place with a new job this summer as kept me pretty busy adulting as well. Hopefully things will settle down soon! I'm glad to hear from you and glad things are going so well :) I definitely get being too busy to blog for awhile and will be around whenever you've got time to post.
ReplyDeleteAww, Katie, THANK YOU <3
DeleteYour new house is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThe inside is even better :)
DeleteAdulting is hard and time consuming, but I'm thrilled that you are in a happy albeit busy place. Honestly, I haven't decided to read the HP play. Half of me is curious about the new characters and where the story goes and the other half is quite content where JK left it.
ReplyDeleteI know I know - such conflicting thoughts. I will say I'm glad I gave it a chance.
DeleteAh a new post! Welcome back (tentatively)! We missed you too my friend ♥ I might have already said so on IG, but congrats on the new house! It's perfect!! Me and the bf are in the process of starting to look for a house but the one we had our eye on sold before we could make an offer *sniff* but there will be other houses I know (I hope!) I'm so happy for your job success too and at how much you're loving life - it's the best feeling :D I really do hope that you'll find time to come back to blogging - I've missed you and our bookish chats xoxox
ReplyDeleteOh Mimz <3<3 Thank you so much. And we had the same thing happen to us with our house! It was swept out from under us, and then the deal fell apart allowing us to make our own offer. Things tend to work out for the best...
DeleteHey there Lady!! So good to see a update from you. Adulting is hard, and I think I'm over it now (if only). It's so good to see that life is being good to you and you're finding your grove. Your job sounds so fun, but yes, I can see where it would be completely exhausting. I should plan a visit to the Badlands one of these days.
ReplyDeleteAnywho- I have thoughts on the Cursed Child, I haven't really shared them with anyone other than my housemates. I am not sure I will. Like you, I am still a bit unsure of my thoughts.
It's so so so so so good to hear from you again- I have certainly missed hearing about you/your life/what you're reading.
Sara!! Thank you and I've def missed interacting with you over these months. But yes please come visit anytime!! I have a guest room that you can stay in :D
DeleteYour house looks so cute and cozy! You know real estate prices are crazy here so a huge congrats to you for being able to get your own place.
ReplyDeleteMy friend in Calgary said it's been snowing there so are you still going for hikes or have things slowed down a bit now?
Thanks Zahida! Thankfully real estate prices here in small town Alberta are way cheaper than in the GTA or any other metropolitan area. And we had snow for the Thanksgiving weekend, but it has melted now.
DeleteAYLEE! I have missed you :) You have been gone FOREVER. Ack! Glad to hear from you again. <3 Hugs. I'm so glad you are doing okay; despite being so busy all the time :) Sounds like you have been doing great lately. <3 Yay :) Thank you for sharing about it sweetie. Hope you will be blogging more. <3
ReplyDeleteAww, Carina :D Thank you!
DeleteI am so happy for you! It sounds like life is treating you pretty well :)
ReplyDeletePart of your job is to lead fossil hunts?! That is really really cool! But I can see how that would be exhausting too. I love your house, it's so cute! Congratulations! I think the closest I'll be to owning a home for awhile is watching HGTV and all the home improvement shows haha. But that is so exciting for you :) I haven't read Cursed Child and I'm not sure I want to. I read detailed descriptions of the plot and I was not a fan. Seems like a lot of convoluted plot and people acting out of character but who knows, maybe someday I'll give it a chance.
