Top Ten Most Beautiful and Unique Bookshelves (AKA Bookshelf Porn)

It's Pick Your Own Topic week for Top Ten Tuesday and I've chosen to feature some of my favourite bookshelves that I've seen around the interwebs. Not all of these would be entirely practical for shelving, but all of them are works of art!

1. Infinity Bookshelf
(also featured in my favourite bookish items list)
(source)

2. Floating Bookshelf
(source)

3. Polar Bear Bookshelf
(source)

4. Rainbow Bookshelf
(I would love to arrange my books like this because it's so pretty, but most of my books' spines are black and it would drive me crazy having series out of order!)
(source)

5. Reading Nook Bookshelf
(source)

6. Circular Bookshelf
(source)

6. Organizational Bookshelf
(but I would need a much longer "Will Be Read" shelf...)

8. Staircase Bookshelf
(source)

9. Secret Passage Bookshelf

10. Rolling Ladder Bookshelf
(because don't we all want our Belle moment?)

  3. GAH! So gorgeous! Oh, I love the rainbow shelf! But, like you, having the series out if order would drive me mad. The step shelves, though? EEE!

  5. OMG I love that you posted these, Aylee! I'm a bookshelf slut, and I always dream about the day I can have those floor-to-ceiling shelves of my dreams. Someday!

  6. oh that was a wonderful topic--I've pinned tons of "book nooks" on pinterest. I did finally get me a floor to ceiling book case this past year. I love it. kelley—the road goes ever ever on

  7. Great list. I want a secret passage bookshelf. I've wanted one of those ever since I was about eight or ten years old (I believe mostly thanks to all those Nancy Drew books I used to read) and I've never stopped wanting one. Seriously, if I ever get my own house, I'm converting a whole room into a library with a secret passage in one of the bookshelves. (Don't even care how difficult that would be.)

  8. I would love the book nook! We're moving house soon and we're thinking of turning the sitting room into a quiet room/reading room. Loads of inspiration here! Thanks!

  12. These are so awesome! What a neat topic! I've always wanted a rolling ladder just like the one shown in Beauty and the Beast so it's funny that you included that gif. Oh, and I love those floating bookshelves. I've actually considered buying those myself.

Have you seen the website Bookshelf Porn? You probably have, but if not, it's so cool and I love checking it out, though not at work just in case there's a misunderstanding. http://bookshelfporn.com/ :P Great list!

    1. No, I haven't actually heard of that so I'll have to check it out! Erm, not at work though, good idea, heh.

  13. Yes, I'd love a rolling ladder...though not one so high, as I'm quite afraid of heights. lol I think the infinity bookshelf is awesome, and a secret doorway type of bookcase would be fantastic!

  14. Love this post. My favorite shelf is the one where the books are arranged by color and a cute pug plays on the couch.

  15. I like the Floating shelf but I ADORE the Reading Nook. Hoping to get one like that at some point. I wonder how the Infinity Bookshelf Works.

    Naughty title, Aylee! :P

  16. I want a rolling ladder book shelf!! But not as high as they one you showed or I would probably try to take too many books and fall to my death.

  17. My favourite is the reading nook bookshelf, but I also really like the idea of the rolling ladder bookshelf because it would mean that I have a ton of books. The rainbow bookshelf looks really pretty but I'd never be able to remember where different books are; it's much easier for me just to organize my bookshelves alphabetically by authors' last names.

  18. I love how the rainbow shelves look, but I need my series to stick together. It would drive me crazy to have my series scattered on the shelves, haha. The hidden book space is going to happen. I MUST have one. And I wish I could have the rolling bookshelves like Belle <3

  20. EEP. What a great TTT, Aylee! I think it's the best one I've seen this week so far, and trust me, I've seen many. But it also makes me so jealous, haha, 'cause I probably won't ever get to own bookshelves like these... except maybe #2. That one seems doable. :P I have to say that my favorites are #3 and #8. Polar bears are awesome, though in this case I think it'd be nicer if the polar bear was made out glass instead of white wood. It'd be cute to have it next to a brick fireplace or something! And for #8, imagine if the steps were padded with some sort of carpet -- something soft. It'd be SO easy to just plop down on the step and pick a book off my fabulously comfortable stair-shelf and start reading, right? You wouldn't need to get up again and find some comfortable spot on the couch to read! It'd be way awesome to have a rolling ladder bookshelf, though. I totally thought of Beauty and the Beast when I saw the pic. It has such a vintage feel to it -- love it!

Okay, I'm going overboard with the dreaming. Love all these shelf ideas, hon!

  21. Oh, how gorgeous all of these bookshelves are. <3 I WANT THEM ALL. ACK! If only I lived downstairs, and not upstairs.. Hmm. One day I will have my own huge house. Maybe. And then I will have ALL the bookshelves, lol :D Anyway. Amazing post sweetie. <3 Thank you for sharing :)

  22. I really like the floating shelves. I think they are so interesting. I saw them at a store here and I wanted to buy like ten (I left with none), but I really like the concept. I also love the reading nook. It's incredible! I've seen similar things on Pinterest and I pin them every time. I think I just love all bookshelves. I can't wait until I can have wall to wall- floor to ceiling bookshelves... someday!

  23. Those are so gorgeous! I love the floating bookshelf, I'm thinking of making that for myself

  24. Sigh, a rolling ladder bookshelf and a secret passage bookshelf - both things I wish to get in my *dream home* someday...not to mention that reading nook one!! I'm loving the infinity and staircase ones, if only because they give the impression of never ending books XD I'm with you on the rainbow one as well - while I ADORE the idea of rainbows+books (two of my biggest loves) I feel like most of my book spines are indeed black...and I think my OCD personality isn't suited for separating books that way LOL

Gorgeous pictures though, I'll be scrolling up again and swooning some more just as soon as I hit 'publish' ♥

  25. Oooh! I love all of these, too...and I totally agree about the book rainbow organization system. I love how it looks on other people's shelves, but it would drive me crazy! I don't know how you would ever find anything. :P

I seriously love them all though...and I've always wanted a book nook and shelves with the rolling ladders...they'd be so awesome!!! :D

ALSO, THE BELLE GIF IS AMAZINGGGGG!!!! :D
