January Recap

Another month come and gone... and thankfully a much happier month for me than the previous. After dealing with some losses in December, January was like a breath of fresh air. I attended the wedding of friends, had a reunion with the Edmonton Book Bloggers, welcomed my bf's nephew into the world, celebrated my three year anniversary with my boyfriend, and was reunited with my ferrets. Oh, and I read 12 books! That is a really impressive monthly book count for me! Life is good.

I also binge watched Breaking Bad this month:
Now I am not yet done with all 5 seasons, but I think it is safe to say that Breaking Bad is definitely a new favourite of mine. It is most excellent. The acting is superb and the story is just absorbing. It's a show that makes me think, and I love that. I can't wait to see where it goes from here!

Review: Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles #2) by Marissa Meyer - 5 Stars

Best Book Read in January:
I FINALLY found the time to read Scarlet, the sequel to Cinder, one of my favourite reads of last year. Marissa Meyer is a MASTER of compelling storylines and loveable characters. And Cress is officially out! Which means I should be able to read it very soon and meet Cress, herself (as well as reunite with my favourites Thorne and Iko!!). Can't wait!

  1. OMG I'm like on the second last ep of Breaking Bad right now and ARGHHH if only I could finish it tonight (this is like my sixth one tonight). TOO INTENSE. But the best kind of intense!

  2. I am SO glad to hear that you had a better month! And lots of cool things happened. Congrats on three years with the bf. Baby nephews are awesome. Because you can play with them all your want and then return them to their parents at the end of the day.

I am somehow stuck on Breaking Bad, I am on season three I think. But Jesse and Mr.White are not getting along, and I don't like that. I like their chemistry (no pun intended). I'll get back to it when my obsession with British television subsides. Twelve books that epic. It would seem that your reading slump has come to an end.

I am glad to see that things are looking up for you! I hope you enjoy February!

  4. I think I need to try Breaking Bad ... hubs tried 2 episodes and didn't like it, but I tend to like the shows he doesn't like. Will have to try! I also really need to get into those Marissa Meyer books ... I have the first two so I don't know what's stopping me!

  5. I've heard so much of Breaking Bad but I've never seen an episode. A lot of my coworkers talk about it so I guess I better try an episode or two to figure out all the hoopla. Glad your reading slump came to an end! That always makes me happy.

I haven't read Cinder or any of the others, but I really want too! I'm glad to hear you're loving the books.

  11. I'm so glad to hear your January was better than December. Congratulations on your anniversary with your bf, and on being reunited with your furry friends! :-) Breaking Bad is seriously the best show I've watched in years, and it's left a gaping hole in my TV watching life. I wish there were more shows with such complex and captivating characters. *sighs*

  22. I'm happy to hear you had a much better January! And yay for reading 12 books! That's wonderful. I keep hearing good things about Breaking Bad, and I'm pretty sure I'll like it too, but I feel like another TV series addiction right now probably isn't a good idea for me. :D But maybe in the summer, when I have more free time. I hope you're enjoying your February so far. :)

  24. Aw, I'm glad to see you're having a good time and all's well with you. I haven't heard of Breaking Bad. I'm not sure if they air it here but I'll have to check it out. And Scarlet! Now that's one series I hear tons about and it's all good stuff so I better read it sometime. I hope the months to come are as happy as this one, Aylee.

  25. I still need to watch Breaking Bad. My husband was a huge fan and then it got to violent for his taste (which is really saying something). I'm not sure what I'd think of it.

I thought of you last night when I was listening to a podcast and it said that it is illegal to own ferrets as pets in California. That seems really surprising. Apparently it's because they are an invasive species if they get out into the wild.

  26. I am so glad to hear that January was a great month for you Eilidh! :D And I really need to actually watch Breaking Bad...I've seen bits and pieces of each season when my mom watches it, but I need to REALLY watch it so I can see it all. haha

I hope that February is just as awesome for you...I can't believe it's already almost over! This year has already started to go far too fast!!!!

Pssst....have you gotten yourself Veronica Mars tickets yet???!!! :P
