Stacking the Shelves (8) and Vlog (5)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews to showcase any books that I have received for review, bought, borrowed, or won to read.

This month has been hellishly busy and stressful for me, but I still somehow found the time to make a quick vlog to update on the books I have received these past few weeks:

For Review:
Pantomime by Laura Lam (Thanks to Strange Chemistry!)
The Holders by Julianna Scott (Thanks to Strange Chemistry!)
City of a Thousand Dolls by Miriam Forster (Thanks to HarperCollins Canada!)

Gifted:
The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin (Thanks to Sara of Just Another Story!)

Bought Used:
Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson
Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine

After this weekend, I will be taking a wee break from blogging for the holidays, but will still be reachable by email, twitter, and facebook. Happy Holidays and see you in 2013!!

  4. Awesome book haul this week! :) I am new to your blog, and I love how you did a "vlog" posting for your STS! I have to read "The Bridge to Terabithia" for one of my University classes; so I hope you enjoy it more than me when I have to analyse it, lol! Also, the Evolution of Mara Dyer - have only heard amazing things from everyone! I still have to read the first one, but honestly it is on my "Must Read: to-read" pile, lol. Happy Holidays!

  16. Bridge to Terabithia and Ella Enchanted were both childhood favourites of mine. :) Neither movie adaption was quite as good as the book, though! Also, Pantomime and City of a Thousand Dolls sound insanely good - I hope you enjoy them!

  17. Squee! City of a Thousand Dolls sounds amazing! I would love to borrow it once you've finished.

And Ella Enchanted is such a great book. One of my favourites!

By the way, I tried to tweet you about it, but I was wondering if you wanted my extra ARC of Midwinter Blood by Marcus Sedgwick. I saw it on your WoW a while ago and I thought you might want an ARC. If you already got one, no worries!

  25. OMG, Aylee, Pantomime is going to totally surprise you! That book has a major secret. I found it unlike anything I've read. Don't much like Mara Dyer, but I'm such a fangirl for The City Of Thousand Dolls- the cover is gorgeous and a South Asian inspired fantasy? This Asian says bring it on :D Have a great Holiday season!

  26. Strange Chemistry just rocks my oceans! I am so ecstatic to see you'll be reading Pantomime right along with me. And oh, mama's apron I can't wait for The Pirate's Wish. I'm having trouble just breathing while thinking about it.

And. GET. OUT. OF. FIRE! You got a copy of City of a Thousand Dolls!?! Oh, I wish I was you and while I was you I'd fumble through the pages and sniff the cover and caress the spine. LUCKY. YOU'RE SO LUCKY. I need a copy ASAP.

Also: it's so lovely to see your face <3. AND STOP TEMPTING ME. I can't afford to add Unbecoming/Evolution onto my TBR, darn it.

  27. I really need to read the first Mara Dyer book! And City of a Thousand Dolls sounds really good, such a sweet haul this past week.

Le sigh! I am sitting here with my husband with one of my brats sleeping right beside me so I can't watch the vlog but I will definitely make a point to come back tomorrow and watch it!

    Happy Holidays, Aylee!

  29. Dying to read City of a Thousand Dolls!!! I'll be curious to know what you think of it when you read it! Same goes for The Holders :D Also, I'd seen Pantomime around but I didn't know much about it. If it's fantasy I'll definitely have to check it out!

Congrats on the used classics you got a hold of too - both must reads for me as well :)

Happy New Year Aylee ♥ Hope you had happy holidays & all the best for 2013!
